Job Title: Financial Controller
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide financial support daily basis: cost monitoring, reviews, cash flow and monthly reporting
- Produce annual budgets, half yearly forecasts, manage monthly cost control and reporting cycle
- Review revenues to ensure cash flow and profitability forecasts are in line with the projected budget
- Review the GL reporting and processing of P&L items
- Ensure correct allocation according to reporting requirements
- Monthly consolidation and reporting
- Monthly reporting and corporate reporting
- Manage monthly closing, annual budget, and quarterly forecasts
- Track new business and backlog forecast and report via a rolling forecast
- Track and report on Capital Expenditure vs. budgets and forecasts
- Maintain and monitor the risk schedule related to provisions / balance sheet items
- Assist with GL cost codes and open new job numbers on the system
- Analyse financial information needs by reviewing existing systems and working out the best way to meet those needs
- Conduct investigations and feasibility studies on projects
- Identify opportunities and risks
- Manage cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy
- Assist with monthly payment certificates / invoicing to be sent for contracts milestones
- Check the calculating of contract price escalations / adjustments / FOREX
- Update client invoicing and payment template
- Check and report on quarterly stock takes
- Assist with day-to-day stock control
- Manage all aspects of P&L, investigate balance sheet, interrogate figures, and ensure accurate reporting
- Ensure that financial policies are adhered to
- Improve efficiencies and reduce costs across the business
- Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and levels of authority of approvals
- Ensure total confidentiality of all information
- Train Project Managers and Cost Controllers on the JDE system
- Analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
- Short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, monthly closing, and project profitability analysis.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Degree / Diploma / B Tech: Cost Accounting / Management Accounting
- 2 – 3 years’ experience in a project accounting environment
- Extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cash flow, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Extensive knowledge of JD Edwards
- Operation & Services contract management knowledge
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to motivate teams to produce quality work according to tight deadlines
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Computer literate (MS Excel / Google Sheets)
- Advanced level MS Word and JD Edwards or similar accounting package experience
- Business / profit orientated
