Job Title: Business Development Specialist

Introduction

Main Purpose of the Job:

A Business Development Specialist is responsible for researching and pursuing new business leads for the growth of the business. The Business Development Specialist is expected to work on new business proposals and presentations that are a professional representation of Skypiom’s comprehensive solutions and services.

To adequately position Skypiom’s value proposition, this role will require a solid understanding of Skypiom’s solutions and services. In order to do this, the Business Development Specialist will initially commence in support in order to understand the solution holistically, thereafter transition into a lead generation so as to understand the methods to discover and qualify leads, after which the Business Development Specialist will actively promote the solution both domestically and eventually internationally.

Position within the Organisation:

Reports to: Head of Business Development

Main Relationships: Liaises externally with potential clients, whereby the core objective is to secure customers. Liaises internally with other Business Development Specialists and the support team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities on an ongoing basis in order to achieve predetermined sales targets, after having successfully undergone training with support and lead generation;
  • Responsible for making outbound calls on a daily basis to create interest in products and services (tools and software provided) with the aim of creating new business leads;
  • Follow up on incoming leads;
  • Build business relationships with current and potential clients;
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations and demonstrations of the software, articulately and confidently;
  • Market and promote a portfolio of products by attending industry-related events;
  • Understand client needs and offer solutions and support; answer potential client questions and follow-up questions; respond to client requests for quotations (RFQ), information (RFI), and proposals (RFPs);
  • Provide professional and exceptional client service in all interactions with existing and new clients;
  • Provide technical advice to customers on all aspects of the system and network, both pre and post-sale;
  • Advise on software features and how they can be applied to assist in a variety of contexts;
  • Develop quotes and proposals;
  • Negotiate and renegotiate by phone, email, and in person;
  • Assist other departments as and when required; and
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as and when required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • A minimum of 2 years of sales experience;
  • Experience in software, eLearning, or Software as a Service;
  • Previous experience with CRMs and management software;
  • Self-starter;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills;
  • Detail orientated;
  • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team;
  • Persuasive and goal-oriented;
  • Advanced computer literacy – this is important! (Apple is preferable but not a necessity);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect, and interact with potential customers;
  • Able to professionally and confidently communicate with executives;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent time management and organization;
  • Positive attitude: think creatively and laterally;
  • Reliable internet access at home;
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport; and
  • Occasional travel.

Package & Remuneration

  • R15,000 CTC – R25,000 CTC basic salary (depending on experience in software and Software as a Service sales) in which an R1,000 cellphone and internet allowance is included;
  • Attractive commission on all sales generated; and
  • Mileage driven for the company will be reimbursed at the current SARS rate.

Disclaimer

For purposes of the COVID-19 lockdown, this position will initially be executed on a “work from home” basis with fortnightly in-person meetings. This may be retained however this could change in the future. The duties laid down in this job description may change. E&OE .
