Job Title: EHS Manager – Heidelburg – R60,000 per month – 3 months fixed term contract
Introduction
Phakisa Holdings is currently seeking a EHS Manager in the Heidelburg area. On a 3 month fixed term contract.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure that the OPS LT and line managers within SA understand their Occupational Safety and Sustainability responsibilities.
- Give support and direction to line management that will ensure the identification and evaluation of existing and potential risks to the business arising from environmental impacts and health and safety risks by:-
- Ensuring that line-managers are appropriately trained.
- Working with line management to develop and implement agreed internal control systems procedures and solutions.
- Giving direction and focus for EHS activities to all company functions and departments.
- Reviewing EHS management system periodically for compliance and progress.
- When problem areas or poor practices are identified, ensure that agreed corrective actions are fully implemented in a timely manner.
- Assisting with and recommending new work practices, procedures or materials, new equipment or modification to existing equipment/plant where appropriate.
- Ensure implementation of all the service contracts pertaining to maintenance of EHS /Sustainability facilities on site.
- Set standards with regards to the quality of contractors recruited and used within our businesses.
- Ensure availability of adequate facilities and teams to manage any emergencies on all sites including evacuations.
- Ensure availability of adequate and quality personal protective equipment
- Ensure that all contractors fully understand the procedures to follow to safeguard the environment and the health and safety of their activities and also comply to Legislation.
- Participate in preparation and implementation of the SA EHS and Sustainability Annual plans covering factory operations/commercial business and the supply chain functions.
- Manage the EPR requirements and processes as per the National regulations for all the post consumer waste streams.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12
- EHS Certificat/Diploma
- Low level of EHS and Sustainability awareness in the country and end markets.
- Culture change – leading from the front.
- Enforcement of legal compliance in the country and end markets
- High number of contractor employees resulting in high turn overs.
- Must have influencing skills to overcome apathy from management.
- Thorough knowledge of the business is necessary for decision making and generation of the drive.
- Regular, active engagement with employees(across the various departments) to maintain and ensure ongoing EHS and Sustainability awareness.
- Versatile and agile with regards to factory engagement of shopfloor and top level management.
- Assertiveness while driving policies whilst maintaining cordial relations with all departments.
Package & Remuneration
R60,000 per month
3 month fixed term contract
