Job Title: Sales Representative – KwaZulu-Natal

Our Client is looking for a Sales Representative for the KwaZulu Natal Surrounding areas to actively contribute towards the company’s Vision of becoming the leading provider of Blow-Moulded, 3-Layer Water Storage Tanks enabling quality and clean water for all areas and communities. The position holder is responsible for the sales and marketing of the company products through intermediaries like DIY Retailers, Wholesalers, the Agriculture Sector, Rural Sector, Government Sector, Plumbing Sector, Consultants, and influences.

Duties & Responsibilities

Main Functions
1. Sales Representation

  • Visiting retailers, hardware stores, wholesalers, agriculture retailers, and water-related contractors. (This is not an exhaustive list)
  • Acquire market intelligence when visiting the above-mentioned customer base in terms of opposition companies – promotions, pricing, etc.
  • Identify specific requirements from customers – stock required, stock on hand, size of tanks, space limitations, price queries, account queries, and payment queries.
  • Submit quotations timeously (max 24 hours from receipt of information)
  • Follow-up on current customers regularly to determine any possible changes/threats (call cycle should not exceed once every 3-4 weeks)
  • Establish a new customer base by actively searching for opportunities and new clients
  • Visitation of problematic Sites/Troubleshooting – Assess the situation
  • Relay information to relevant person – Hardware Retailer etc. – Claim Form with Photos vital and correct procedure to be followed


2. Establishing and Maintaining Relations

  • Maintain and develop professional, supportive, and trusted relations with clients
  • Regular telephonic contact and visitation of clients on the database – minimum of 1 appointment in a 3-4 week cycle (should aim for 1 visit every 2 weeks)
  • Establish new relationships with potential clients and other interested parties
  • Weekly Training to clients on database and new clients – register to be kept and shared with the manager
  • Update client information on the database and CRM
  • Attend promotions if and when required by clients and supply promotional items if and when available. Also, keep a record of any promotional tanks supplied.
  • Promote and introduce new products to the client base when applicable
  • Generate new business – Cold Calling
  • Relay information regarding products and availability as well as prices
  • Conduct product training
  • Orders – get the order and ensure delivery thereof (determined by the nature of the request)

3. Management of Database

  • Follow-up on leads received every week from  management, website, social media, etc, and ensure accurate CRM input
  • Update client information daily – ensure accurate CRM input
  • Ensure continuous interaction and relations with Grade clients – update CRM accordingly
  • Ensure contact and relationship building with all B Grade clients within a 4-week cycle – update CRM input
  • Established contact with a minimum of 2 new clients per week
  • Update database on CRM and share with manager/s


4. Company Meetings

  • Attendance of Sales/Marketing meetings as arranged by manager/s.
  • Supply Direct Manager with all relevant information –
  • Accountability for time management and functioning per week (sharing of Outlook Calendar and keeping information on Outlook Calendar current and updated daily.
  • CRM can also be used for this function)  Relay information of new contacts established immediately.
  • Relay information on new orders and forthcoming orders
  • Relay information that may influence stock holding to ensure effective forecasting of stock
  • Relay any difficulties or problems
  • Ensure accurate input of all relevant information on CRM to ensure accurate monthly reporting to the management team.


5. Ad Hoc Function

  • Assisting colleagues with certain promotions if and when required, especially over weekends/public holidays
  • Handling telephonic queries.
  • Technical Queries.
  • Pricing.
  • Product Information.
  • Assisting with Marketing requirements in terms of information, images, etc for social media/website/Google Business, etc.


6. General

  • Monthly Sales Targets to be adhered to and every effort must be given to achieve results.

It is confirmed that the aforesaid list is not an exhaustive one and may vary; also there may be occasions from time to time when you will be required to carry out functions and duties over and above those listed above.
Significant changes to your job description will be made in consultation with yourself and acceptance by you.

INHERENT SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • 2 Years of Sales Experience.
  • Preferred 3 years in a DIY Trade environment.
  • Knowledge of Building materials or related products would be advantageous.
  • Computer literate and experience in Microsoft Office Software essential.
  • Technical Ability.
  • Problem-Solving.
  • Ability to communicate at a professional level.
  • Effective Time Management.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and pressure.
  • PowerPoint Presentations skills.
  • Effective management of client base.

  • Accountability – Willing acceptance of responsibilities and workload requirements.
  • Presentation – Ability to present in an effective and understanding manner.


WORK ENVIRONMENT (RISKS, HAZARDS, INCONVENIENCE ETC)
There will be a requirement for visitations to be done to customers in outlying areas, all to be vigilant in respect of road safety and overall safety when driving at night especially. Routes are to be planned properly to avoid dangerous areas (hazardous roads) and driving at night. Any difficulties must be reported in writing to your direct manager.
