Job Title: Regional Finance Manager Safari Lodge

Introduction

A large well-known eco-tourism company is looking for a regional finance manager.

The position will be based on site at one of the lodges.

Experience in tourism and lodges is beneficial but not completely necessary.

A very exciting position for a young CA looking for adventure and a chnage of pace from city living.

Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and supervise the finance teams, set objectives, provide guidance, and evaluate performance
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team

Financial Reporting and management:

  • Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and long-term high-level forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements in financial reporting
  • Full responsibility for system transaction flows, accounting, reporting, and internal controls at a regional level
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of the annual financial statements
  • Assist with reporting requirements over the not-for-profit entity reporting and donor-related reporting

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement

Cost Management:

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to control expenses
  • Conduct cost analysis and provide recommendations to optimize resource allocation and improve profitability
  • Change and implement new processes where needed, to achieve better cost control, accuracy of information and enhancing efficiencies

Financial Decision-making:

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, partnerships, and capital expenditure projects
  • Conduct financial due diligence and assess the financial viability of potential business ventures

Commercial Negotiations:

  • Participate in contract negotiations with suppliers, vendors, and communities
  • Ensure favorable terms and conditions to maximize profitability and minimize risks
  • Evaluate and manage contractual obligations and risks

       Relationship Management:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as managers, department heads, and operational teams, to align financial objectives with the overall business goals

Training:

Training, guidance and development of finance and staff covering internal controls, processes and how these processes impact financial reporting

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • BComm Accounting degree or similar
  • Chartered accountant or similar
  • Minimum 4 years’ management experience is essential

Luxury lodge and Touring finance experience is an advantage
