Job Title: Transport Supervisor
Introduction
The transport supervisor role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to oversee the transportation department’s day-to-day operations. The transport supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of orders while supervising a team of drivers and vehicles. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversee, analyse and manage order fulfilment errors relating to delivery issues. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
• Conduct daily debriefing sessions with drivers to discuss any issues that arose during their shift and gather feedback. Identify areas for improvement within the delivery process and implement strategies to improve the delivery efficiencies.
• Address any concerns or issues raised by drivers and work with the transport manager to resolve them.
• Manage and maintain the key control system for all vehicles in the fleet. Ensure that keys are properly secured and distributed to authorized personnel only.
• Oversee the control and management of all phones and related equipment issued to drivers and transport staff. Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and functioning at all times.
• Conduct regular inspections of all vehicles to ensure that they are presentable and in good working condition. Identify any maintenance or repair needs and work with the transport administrator to coordinate necessary services and/or maintenance
• Manage the washing and cleaning of all vehicles to ensure they are presentable and meet company standards.
• Ensure that all vehicles have properly functioning windscreen wipers and bulbs. Replace these items as needed.
• Oversee the loading of orders onto vehicles to ensure that they are properly secured and will not be damaged during transport.
• Monitor the daily dispatch process to ensure that all vehicles are dispatched in a timely and efficient manner.
• Conduct regular spot checks to ensure that all loads are complete and nothing has been left behind.
Desired Experience & Qualification
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a similar administrative role.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of transport regulations and best practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
Package & Remuneration
Negotiable depending on experience
