Job Title: Ayp In-school Program
The AYP Programme offers a risk avoidance, an age-tailored combination prevention programme for AGYW, ABYM, ALHIV, Youth with Disabilities and Young Key Populations aged 10-24 years.
The following vacancies will be responsible for the successful implementation of the AYP programme in Schools and Safe Spaces within Sol Plaatjie Municipality in the Northern Cape Province:
- 1 x Inschool Coordinator
- 9 x Inschool Supervisors
- 6 x Inschool Champions
- 2 x Inschool Subject Tutors
Duties & Responsibilities
- Inschool Coordinator (responsible for the effective coordination and management of the in-school component of the AYP programme in schools. This position includes overseeing all aspects of the In-school component, providing supportive supervision to the In-School team, managing project implementation, management & coordination of In-School stakeholders, program monitoring, reporting and quality assurance).
- Inschool Supervisors (responsible for the successful implementation of the AYP programme in schools. This position includes the management and. Coordination of In-School activities. Monitor LSAs; offer Core package and Psychosocial support, refer and report Human Rights Violations (HRV).
- Inschool Champions (responsible for the successful implementation of the AYP programme in schools and Safe Space. This position includes offering Core Package, writing referrals, linking to services, and reporting Human Rights Violations working closely with the SBST through the In-School Supervisor).
- Inschool Subject Tutors (responsible for the successful implementation of the AYP programme in schools. This position includes demand creation, homework and academic support, tutoring of Primary or Secondary school subjects at schools and Safe Spaces to reach learning benchmarks).
Desired Experience & Qualification
Inschool Coordinator
Experience and Qualifications
- An appropriate 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Social Science, Public Health or equivalent qualification as recognized by SAQA
- Current registration with the relevant regulatory body/authority
- Certificate in HIV, TB, SRH and STI, prevention
- A Project Management qualification will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a management/ supervisory role
Knowledge
- At least 3 years of experience in project management
- At least 3 years of working experience in an NGO field.
- Experience in developmental work.
- Excellent writing skills, including report writing
- Good Coordination and management skills
- Experience in Facilitation, e.g. training, workshops
Inschool Supervisors
Experience and Qualifications
- Matric certificate and post-matric qualification in Senior Child & Youth Care Worker
- Social Auxiliary Work/Social Sciences or Psychology experience.
- At least 3 years of work experience
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
- Must have case management experience
- Must have at least 2 years of working experience in the NGO Sector
- Basic Knowledge of the Education Sector
- Facilitation and presentation skills
Inschool Champions
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric
- A post-matric qualification/ certificate in Peer Education, Child & Youth Care Work or Social Auxiliary Work will be an added advantage
- Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role
- Facilitation skills and Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
- Planning and organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, including being a team player.
- Non-judgmental, trustworthy, and empathetic personality
- Always demonstrate strong professional attitude and behavior
- Ability to travel as and when required
- Ability to communicate in English and local languages
Inschool Subjects Tutor
Experience and Qualifications
- Matric
- A post-matric qualification/ certificate in Peer Education, Child & Youth Care Work or Social Auxiliary Work will be an added advantage
- At least 3 years of teaching/tutoring experience
- Advantage: Retired teacher or unemployed teacher or dropout university student with Primary School or Secondary Scholl education background.
Knowledge
- Previous experience arranging flight bookings, handling training logistics
- A working background in the NGO field
- Ability to communicate in English and local languages
- Subject expertise in any of the 4 school subjects (Langauges: English Home Language and First Additional Language, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Technology, Economics and Management Sciences, and Life Orientation).
- Writing Lesson Plans
- Understanding of Department of Basic Education policies and regulations and frameworks.
- Understanding of the Department of Basic Education Policy on Screening, Identification, Assessment, and Support.
