Distell Limited Learnerships
Distell invites unemployed youth to apply for the Learnership Programme 2022
Applications are invited for the above-mentioned leadership to be based at Paarl Cluster, Nederburg. The successful applicant will report to the Packaging Unit Manager.
The learnership entails the following outcomes:
- Demonstrating an understanding of basic machine operations in a manufacturing and or packaging environment
- Demonstrating an understanding of the concept of Microbiology in a food-handling environment
- Monitoring critical control points (CCP) as an integral part of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system
- Performing quality control practices in a food or sensitive consumer product operation
- Competence in performing operations in the following processes on an automated food & beverage packaging line:
- Washing
- Filling
- Sealing
- Labeling
- Palletizing
- Depalletizing
- Performing first-line maintenance
- Applying problem-solving techniques
- Demonstrating effective communication skills and the ability to interpret and use information
- Demonstrating basic mathematical literacy
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
- Minimum qualification of Grade 12 or relevant N qualifications
- Preference will be given to applicants with a tertiary qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
- Relevant experience within a production/high-speed packaging environment would be advantageous
- Knowledge of safe working procedures
- Display a strong ability to act, initiate, and focus on technical/mechanical tasks
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to function independently and under pressure
- Ability to cope with the inherent physical demands of the learnership
- Must be willing and able to work shifts and overtime as part of workplace training as and/or when required
Additional requirements:
- Short-listed candidates will undergo a formal assessment
- Candidates will be required to work shifts/extended hours as and/or when the need arises
- Successful candidates will be subjected to a medical evaluation
