Job Title: Supply Chain Manager

A position has become available for a Supply Chain Manager to join our dynamic team, based in Alberton.

The candidate must reside within the Alberton area (or close proximity).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Branch Managers
  • Determine key supply chain KPIs
  • Suggest solutions for process improvements
  • Identify process bottleneck and implement solutions in a timely manner
  • Train and evaluate others
  • Provide constructive feedback
  • Work with finance, sales, and branch teams to determine best vendors and distributors
  • Build and maintain good relationships with factories and suppliers
  • Preparing and processing purchase orders
  • Monitor back orders, sales, and deliveries to determine if order levels are sufficient
  • Liaise with sales department and factories on delivery dates for outstanding orders
  • Queries to factories regarding prices, dates, incorrect deliveries, and outstanding back orders
  • Monthly, comparison of back order, to ensure all orders have been received by the supplier and any conflicts are addressed
  • Follow up on delivery of buyout orders for sales staff
  • Update delivery dates and pricing on ERP System
  • Confirmation of invoiced metal adjustments, based on confirmed or late deliveries
  • Develop and implement purchasing procedures, as and when necessary
  • Review and analyze purchase requisitions to ensure appropriate sourcing of non-stock items.
  • Booking in of stock received from suppliers
  • Control and monitor stock received for branches
  • Assisting the accounts department with all queries relating to supplier invoices and deliveries
  • Conduct purchasing meetings with various suppliers concerning forward order planning, delivery status on back orders and managing of implemented changes on current orders
  • Compile buying price lists for sales staff
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and market conditions
  • Monthly comparison of suppliers’ pricing to determine if increases are in line with the prevailing metal adjustments as published by SEIFSA
  • Develop stock analysis and monitoring reports assisted by ERP system consultant
  • Stock and sales analysis to forecast order requirements in conjunction with the ERP System
  • Reporting on the status of all open purchase orders

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Previous working experience in procurement or supply chain management for (5+) years
  • Hands on experience with supply chain management software (such as K8, SAP)
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and analytical
  • Team player
  • Good time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work in high stress environment.
  • Matric
  • Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or similar relevant field will be advantageous
