Job Title: Boutique Guesthouse Manager
Introduction
Heavenly Boutique Guesthouse is a four-star upmarket boutique guesthouse, situated in the heart of Johannesburg South. With close attention to detail and exceptional service, Heavenly creates a pleasant and an intimate atmosphere where our guests will experience a quiet and tranquil setting, offering best in class accommodation and personalized service.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Manager to join the Heavenly team. We are situated in close proximity to shopping malls, N12 highway and OR Tambo International Airport.
Job Purpose
The Manager will be responsible for managing the operations and sales/marketing of Heavenly Boutique Guest house through effective supervision of staffs to provide excellent customer service to guests, effective sales & marketing of the boutique guest house, and making sure that the property is maintained appropriately
Key Performance Areas
Management
- In consultation with the Director/Owner/Board of Directors, create and manage the implementation of operational plans of the boutique guesthouse and ensure that they are achieved.
- Manage the maintenance issues of the boutique guesthouse as well as security matters.
- Manage the operations of the business as per targets set by the Director/ Owner/Board of Directors
Sales & Marketing
- Effectively market the guest house to increase occupancy
- Conduct sales calls with relevant potential clients for accommodation
- Manage online presence of the boutique guest house on prominent booking platforms such as Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Airbnb etc.; and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Promote the boutique guesthouse to tour operators, booking agents and events companies for boosting occupancy
- The ability to establish corporate/government contacts/databases for purposes of increasing sales and boutique guesthouse occupancy
Budgetary and Cost control
- Draw up budgets for the Heavenly Boutique Guesthouse operations for presentation to the Director
- Manage the boutique guesthouse budget according to set principles of the budget control in conjunction with the Director
- Maintain the high boutique guesthouse turnover through cost control measures and ensure that sales records are kept up to date
- Manage stock procurement effectively, making sure that the cleaning chemicals and boutique guesthouse amenities are adequately stocked all the time
- Manage costs through effective cost control regime in procurement, anti-stock pilferage systems, minimising stock wastage through FIFO, and ensure that appropriate controls of stock are put in place and maintained
- Submit daily, weekly and monthly sales reports
Administration and Supervision of staff
- Prepare monthly schedules for all operational areas as well as leave administration for all staffs
- Create and manage training and development of staff to ensure high performance and great customer service
- Supervise allocation of responsibilities to ensure optimum utilisation of human resources.
- Make recommendations to the Director on any human resource matters
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications and experience
- Hospitality Management Diploma or Degree from a reputable hospitality school
- Extensive hospitality knowledge and experience in all departments
- Familiarity with hotel management software, such as Nightsbridge or Opera
- 8 years’ experience in managing boutique guesthouses
- 5 to 6 years should have been in sales/marketing or reservation roles
- Experience as a Manager in a four/five-star boutique guesthouse
