Job Title: Cost Accountant
Introduction
Our Durban based wholesale and retail group is currently recruiting for a Cost Accountant. The role directly reports to the Group Finance Manager. The duties of this role include developing, implementing, investigating, and maintaining efficient cost control systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assisting with annual budget preparation and forecast inputs.
- Cost reporting, leading cost initiative drive, and monitoring expenditure.
- Leading special projects to evaluate control measures.
- Providing operational support and services to line and functional management.
- Review GP percentage
- Develop suitable standard of commercial reports that will provide insight, stimulate further discussion.
- Provide meaningful profitability information and recommend ways to optimize profitability and project profitability for new business.
- Recover margin in underperforming categories by highlighting commercial impact.
- Participate in organizational strategy management from a financial management perspective.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills
Education:
- BCom in Cost and Management Accounting
- CIMA is advantageous.
