Job Title: Legal Secretary
Introduction
Norton-Lambrianos is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Legal Secretary. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building a career in the legal field and gaining valuable experience in debt collection law.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist senior legal secretaries and attorneys in the preparation and organization of legal documents, including drafting of S129s, summons, and correspondence.
- Maintain and update files, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
- Prepare and submit legal documents in a timely manner.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, correspondents, and sheriffs.
- Handle incoming calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to legal and ethical standards.
- Look up, sheriffs and correspondents.
- Know the difference between court monetary jurisdictions.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric Certificate or equivalent; additional education in paralegal studies or a related field is a plus
- Prior experience in a legal environment
- Proficient in using legal research tools and software.Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Professional and courteous demeanor when dealing with clients and colleagues.
- Knowledge of debt collection laws and procedures
- Clear criminal record
