Job Title: Exploration Geologist
Introduction
In this role you will have the opportunity to join a progressive Geology department with a primary focus on providing mineral exploration services, large-scale mapping, and sampling programs in support of national geoscientific initiatives. Duties & Responsibilities
About the team
MSA Geologists assist clients by providing world-class geological contracting and consulting services.
Their intimate knowledge of international best practices and guidelines of all major reporting codes are practically applied in the work they do, guaranteeing that our clients achieve both technical and compliance objectives and progress their projects efficiently and cost-effectively.

The successful candidate must have the ability to design, manage and implement exploration programs. This role will be mainly field based but encompass a variety of responsibilities including business development, proposal compilation, management, and coordination of projects. Strong technical report-writing skills will also be required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
We’re looking for someone with the following qualifications/experience/skills and mindset:
- Minimum a 4 year BSc degree in the relevant field (a post-graduate degree will be advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience after completion of the degree (geological exploration experience)
- Working experience must be in the relevant commodities (gold, base metals, critical metals, and rare earth elements)
- Driver’s License
- Must be a member of SACNASP
- Must be able to demonstrate the following basic skills:
- Diamond drilling
- RC drilling
- Mapping
- Geochemical sampling
- Data entry
- Basic GIS competency
- Basic 3D software visualisation competency
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Proven ability to execute mineral exploration data acquisition tasks is essential
- Consulting Experience (preferable but not required)
- International Work Experience (preferable but not required)
- Must have a valid passport
- Must be willing to work on a 8:3 rotation
- Excellent technical knowledge and skills and up to date familiarity with technical and other trends within the industry
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish strong relationships with staff, clients, and other industry players
- Ability to compile high quality reports
- Public speaking, presentation and negotiating skills
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Good working knowledge of pertinent legislation and code compliance
- Good understanding of principals of marketing
- Basic understanding of finance; accounting, cash flow, interest rates, economic cycles, costing, etc
- Understanding of administrative practices as they apply to exploration evaluation and mining projects
