Job Title: IT/System Administrator

Introduction

Knorr-Bremse, the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems and a leading supplier of safety-critical sub-systems for rail and commercial vehicles, seeks to employ an IT/System  Administrator on a fixed-term basis for a period of 12 months. This is a technical role responsible for supporting and maintaining Knorr-Bremse’s IT infrastructure, including, but not limited to, servers, networking, and communications.

The incumbent will be responsible for supporting users and maintaining the network that keeps our organization running. From maintaining and monitoring computers to supervising network updates and training users, the administrator is not only IT support but also the thread that connects all operations. Deep technological expertise with a wide range of computer systems, hardware, and software is essential for the network administrator to excel in this role and help drive our organization forward.

Objectives of this role:

  • Assist in network design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Provide system and network support across organizational systems and users
  • Maintain stable and consistent connectivity across all network computers
  • Prepare, implement, and monitor disaster procedures and recovery

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain network servers and associated hardware, software, services, and settings
  • Ensuring backups are occurring regularly including off-site backups, and testing of backups periodically.
  • Develop strategic decisions on roadmaps in collaboration with the manager
  • Recommend, test, and implement system and security upgrades
  • Consistently monitor and troubleshoot network stability and performance
  • Create, adjust, and maintain network user settings and permissions
  • Write technical support documentation for network systems and applications
  • Any other ad hoc IT-related duties as and when required by the Regional IT Manager

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Qualification in computer science or a related field
  • Certifications in A+, N+, and MCSA (MCSE would be advantageous)
  • 2+ years of System administration and support experience preferably in a Microsoft environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of networking concepts and computing infrastructures
  • Proven skills in network engineering, operations, and performance analysis
  • Experience with leading server management and monitoring tools
  • Experience with Cisco switches and routers
  • Experience in Microsoft Active Directory,, SCCM, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Hyper-V failover clusters, and Microsoft operating systems including Microsoft Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and Windows 10.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Commvault backup software and relevant Microsoft MCSA/MCSE certifications would be advantageous.

Package & Remuneration

A market-related salary will be on offer.  No other benefits will apply as this is a fixed-term contract position.
