IELTS Registration in South Africa (Fees, Dates & Location)

SHARE

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardized English language test which is designed to test the English language proficiency for non-native English Speakers. The exams are for foreign speakers who wish to study, work and live in an English-speaking environment.

The IELTS exams are offered in different countries including South Africa. So, in this guide, we’ll be showing you the online registration procedure for IELTS in South Africa.

To register and take the IELTS test in South Africa is very simple. You can either take the test on paper or on a computer at any of the official test centres in South Africa.

Either way, you’ll be taking the same IELTS test, with the same test content and structure. The only difference is that you can choose to type your answers or write them on paper – whichever suits you best.

IELTS on Computer

If you choose the computer-based test, you’ll be answering the Listening, Reading and Writing sections on a computer at one of the test locations. The IELTS Speaking test will be done face-to-face with a trained IELTS Examiner, as this is the most effective way to assess your speaking skills.

With computer-delivered IELTS, you will now have more test dates to choose from – and your results will be available in 5-7 days.

Computer-delivered IELTS tests are available in various locations across South Africa at one of our official test centres.

IELTS on Paper

If you choose this option, you will write the answers to the Listening, Reading and Writing sections on paper. The Speaking test will be conducted face-to-face with a trained IELTS Examiner.

Your results will be available after 13 calendar days from the test date. If you have any special requirements, you should take the paper-based test.
