Job Title: Painter RDT.K.P.19062023
Introduction
Our client, an upmarket hotel and conference center in Pretoria is looking for a Painter to join their team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to the exterior and interior building surfaces such as plaster, drywall, ceilings,
concrete, and wood.
Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, Sanders, paint stripper, heat gun etc.
Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g., plaster, Polyfilla, Rhino light)
Performs building exterior and interior caulking, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks.
Using equipment such as scaffolding, and ladders-Uses mechanized high-reach equipment to renew caulking on
exterior building panel seams, windows, and doors.
Performs special refinishing tasks including wood surface preparation, staining, and sealing.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs minor plaster repair, blending newly renovated wall surfaces with existing plaster.
Surveys building painting project sites to estimate time and material quantities required; selects appropriate surface coatings.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Complete tasks to company Standards
Comply with company regulations and policies.
Work all shifts Flexibility when job demands.
Perform work outside the scope of work and general maintenance
Desired Experience & Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Grade 12 or Equivalent /trade certification (desirable)
Experience and Skills Required:
Min 3 to 5 years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Selecting and applying paint and associated products.
Applying coatings and/or caulking and completing repairs to the exterior and interior surfaces.
Wood surface preparation, staining, and/or sealing techniques.
Treat, repair, paint water damage area
Be detailed oriented.
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
Ability to select, mix, and apply surface coatings that successfully match and/or restore historic interior or
exterior surfaces.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Ability to estimate basic project time and material quantity requirements
Reliable, Teamwork, and Communicating Must be able to work long hours, night shifts and weekends to meet operational requirements.
