Job Title: Assistant Farm Manager
Introduction
Eagles Pride Hatchery, the largest independent supplier of day-old chicks to the commercial market, has a vacancy for an Assistant Farm Manager at its Laying operation in Koster in the North West Province. Responsibilities will include managing production targets, quality, cost efficiencies, staff and compliance to bio-security protocols.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assist with all production related activities ensuring consistent compliance with SOP’s and production targets as set.
- Effective management of staff
- Adhering to Health and Safety requirements and assist with managing Bio-Security protocols
- Optimize utilization of all equipment, buildings and machinery in use at the Farm.
- Assist with managing the flow of production data
- Ensuring the high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and animal husbandry practices are maintained at all times.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Education, Experience and competencies required
- Grade 12 plus a tertiary qualification eg. National Diploma in Agriculture will be a definite advantage
- Knowledge of animal husbandry
- Broiler Breeder experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience in similar position
- Good computer skills – Microsoft Office Applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Good planning and organizing skills
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Leadership skills
- Able to accept high levels of responsibilities
- A self-motivated, positive individual able to cope well under pressure
- Able to work irregular hours, weekend duties and public holidays
